The Fall Equinox as a Threshold: What This Season Can Teach Us About Healing

The Fall Equinox is a threshold, a brief moment when light and dark are nearly equal before we move into a quieter season. This makes it a beautiful time to think about healing not as fixing ourselves, but as noticing what may be asking to come back into balance.

Fall is often associated with release, but healing isn’t always about finding another thing to clear. It’s about noticing where we’ve been giving too much, pushing too hard, staying guarded, or holding onto patterns that once helped us feel safe.

The Equinox invites a simple question:

Where have I moved too far in one direction?

Maybe you’ve been productive but haven’t made much room to rest. Maybe you’ve been keeping the peace while ignoring your own needs. Maybe you understand something mentally, but your body is still holding onto the stress of it.

Our subconscious can hold onto old emotions, beliefs, and protective patterns long after we consciously understand where they came from.

A belief like I have to handle everything myself may once have served a purpose. So might hypervigilance, emotional walls, or the need to stay in control. But sometimes those patterns keep running even after we no longer need them.

That’s where energy work can support deeper awareness and help uncover what may still be influencing us beneath the surface.

Balance doesn’t mean feeling calm or centered all the time. Real balance moves. There are seasons for rest, seasons for expansion, times for solitude, and times for connection. The goal is noticing when something within us feels stuck, heavy, or out of alignment.

This Fall Equinox, you might ask:

What feels out of balance right now?

What am I still protecting myself from?

What feels heavier than it needs to?

What would it look like to move into this next season feeling more supported within myself?

The Equinox reminds us that light and darkness can exist together.
